Certifications
At Amventco, we understand how critical verified performance is when it comes to life safety systems. That’s why we only supply products that have been independently tested and certified by trusted third parties. Below, you’ll find downloadable reports for fire ratings, gas discharge tests, ingress protection, and arc fault resistance.
Third-party testing & verification
All Amventco vents are manufactured by AFP Air Tech, a UK-based company that operates its own permanent blast testing and research facility. The facility is equipped with live FM200 and Novec suppression systems, allowing us to simulate real-world discharge events and fire conditions.
AFP remains the only company with BRE-verified live gas discharge certification. These third-party validations confirm that our vents meet the highest standards for real-world fire suppression scenarios.
Want to learn how Amventco and AFP pioneered the original blast vent test protocols? See our Research & Development page.
Downloadable certifications & reports
All certifications listed below are available for viewing and download. These documents verify how our products perform under real-world conditions. This helps you meet guidelines, mitigate risk, and build trust with stakeholders.
Fire ratings
Fire ratings certify how long a product can withstand high temperatures without failing. These tests are essential for ensuring structural integrity during a fire, especially in mission-critical spaces like server rooms, switchgear cabinets, or control enclosures.
- AFP SHX-UN 4-Hour Fire Rated. This report shows that the SHX-UN vent maintained its structural and sealing integrity for 4 hours under sustained high-temperature fire exposure. Report: BMT/FEI/F15056.
- DUX 4-Hour Fire Rated. This report demonstrates that the DUX vent withstood continuous exposure to fire for 4 hours without compromising functionality or structure. Report: Chilt/IF10004.
- DUX-1000 4-Hour Fire Rated. This certification confirms that the DUX-1000 vent sustained a 4-hour fire test without failure, ensuring reliable performance in high-risk fire scenarios. Report: 359639.
- Guardian UL 555 Combined Fire Test. This report demonstrates compliance with UL 555, the industry standard for fire dampers in HVAC systems. Report: GL 11010.
Gas live discharge & blast vent testing
During a fire suppression discharge (e.g. FM200 or IG55), rapid gas expansion creates pressure surges that can damage enclosures. Certified blast vents safely relieve this pressure. These tests replicate live gas releases to verify real-life performance.
- BRE-Verified Gas Suppression Blast Test (FM200 & IG55). Verified by BRE, this test simulates actual suppression system discharge to confirm the vent’s ability to relieve pressure without compromising enclosure integrity. Report: PC-08-264/22084.
Ingress protection (IP Rating)
IP ratings confirm how well a product resists intrusion from dust, moisture, or other environmental factors. This is vital in outdoor or sensitive areas where water or debris could impair equipment performance or safety.
- IP63 Rated. IP63 indicates full protection from dust ingress and resistance to sprayed water, ideal for exposed or demanding installation sites. Report: N70090752A.
Arc fault protection
Arc faults can cause explosive pressure and heat within electrical enclosures. Certified vents help contain and relieve this energy, reducing damage and protecting personnel and systems.
- AVC Switchgear Arc Fault Test. This test shows how our venting systems respond to extreme arc fault conditions within switchgear applications. Report.
Why certification matters
When you're specifying or installing pressure relief and blast vents, it's not enough to rely on assumptions or unverified performance claims. Certifications matter because they offer objective, third-party validation that a product will perform as intended under critical, often life-threatening conditions.
Here’s why certified vents are essential:
1. Verified performance under real conditions
All Amventco vents are tested in live, simulated environments, exposing them to real fire, gas suppression discharges (like FM200 or IG55), and arc fault scenarios. Certifications prove that our vents won’t fail when pressure spikes, flames evolve, or environmental hazards strike. You're not relying on calculations done on paper, you’re relying on physical proof.
2. Compliance with safety codes and regulations
Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), insurers, and safety consultants often require documented proof of compliance. Certification reports (especially from bodies like BRE, UL, or BMT) help you demonstrate that your installation meets building codes, fire protection standards, and risk mitigation criteria.
3. Critical in system design and engineering
In fire suppression systems or arc fault containment strategies, every component must perform reliably within milliseconds. A non-certified vent introduces uncertainty, and potential failure, into a tightly engineered sequence. Certifications allow engineers to design systems with known performance data and tighter tolerances.
4. Trusted by stakeholders
Certifications give peace of mind to everyone involved: facility owners, fire protection contractors, consultants, and inspectors. They reduce liability, streamline approval processes, and signal that you're choosing components built to the highest standards in the industry.
5. Not all vents are created equal
Some vent manufacturers rely on theoretical performance or outdated testing. Amventco exclusively supplies AFP Air Tech vents, which are tested using live suppression systems and verified by independent laboratories. In fact, AFP developed the original test protocol for blast vents used in gas suppression systems and remains the only company with BRE-verified certification in this area.
