The discharge of a chemical gas such as HFC-125, HFC-227 and FK-5-1-12 into a room has the effect of producing both a negative under pressure and a positive over pressure on the structure. This happens due to the cooling effect of the discharge. In turn, the surrounding air volume shrinks and the discharge gas warms the air. The continued discharging of gas into the surround adds to the overall volume.
In order to protect against any potential structural damage from both under pressure and over pressure, venting in both directions is needed. Especially in large well-sealed enclosures.
